JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTVY/Gray News) - A 21-year-old man from Dothan, Alabama, is dead after the car he was in crashed with a pickup truck hauling cattle.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was the passenger in a sedan traveling eastbound Monday night along Logan Loop approaching Florida State Road 71. Highway patrol reported the driver, identified as a 22-year-old man from Malone, Florida, failed to see the truck, towing a loaded cattle trailer, while at an intersection and made a left turn into the truck’s path.

The truck, driven by a 68-year-old man from Bascom, Florida, hit the right side of the car, ejecting the 21-year-old passenger from the car.

The truck and the cattle trailer jackknifed as they slid and ended up slamming into a tree.

The 21-year-old was pronounced dead on the scene, while the drivers of the two vehicles suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson County Fire Rescue and Malone Fire Department assisted Florida Highway Patrol on the scene.
